Navigating the treacherous terrain leading into the desert in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom presents players with numerous rewarding side quests. One memorable challenge is the Disaster in Gerudo Canyon quest, which tasks Link with locating three missing travelers stranded throughout the rugged region. Completing this objective requires environmental awareness, quick combat skills, and specific consumable items to help each stranded adventurer safety return.

Starting the Disaster in Gerudo Canyon Quest

To begin this side quest, head near the Digdogg Suspension Bridge near the entrance of Gerudo Canyon. Look for Quince and Nenea setting up camp along the path. Speaking with them reveals that three of their companions have become separated along the canyon route.

Before venturing out into the canyon, it is wise to stock up on essential survival supplies. You will need specific regional items like Splash Fruit and Spicy Peppers in your inventory. Having adequate weaponry ready for potential enemy encounters will also make the rescue effort much smoother.

Rescuing Botrick and Defeating the Lizalfos

The first traveler, Botrick, can be found inside a nearby cave tucked along the main canyon path. Upon entering the cave, you will spot him hiding behind a large stone formation while being threatened by local enemies. Defeat the hostile Lizalfos in the cave to secure the area and ensure Botrick's safety.

After eliminating the threat, speak with Botrick directly to confirm he is unharmed. Once cleared, he will safely make his way back toward the primary camp site. This marks the first successful rescue on your checklist.

Aiding Giro and Garill in the Canyon

Continuing deeper into the canyon path will lead you toward Giro, who is signaling for assistance using a campfire. Giro is suffering from intense heat exhaustion and desperately requires relief. Handing him a fresh Splash Fruit from your inventory restores his energy immediately so he can return to camp.

The final traveler, Garill, is situated further along the rocky plateaus near a prominent smoke plume. Unlike Giro, Garill is shivering from the cold air and needs warmth to regain his strength. Giving him a Spicy Pepper allows him to recover and complete his trek back to his companions.

Completing the Quest and Collecting Rewards

With all three travelers safely accounted for, return to the original camp location at Gerudo Canyon Pass. Speak with the reunited group to receive their heartfelt gratitude for your assistance. They will reward your efforts with 10 Bomb Flowers, which serve as extremely useful resources for future combat and excavation tasks.
